The purpose of the South Florida Writers Association shall be to establish and maintain a forum for fellowship, education and information among writers; assist in establishing and supporting high literary standards; encourage and promote interest in literary achievements in the community.
To fulfill the writing aspirations of our members, we provide guest speakers, annual conferences, literary contests, critique groups and a booth for selling published books at the Miami Book Fair International.
We explore all genres of writing including: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry, Self-Publishing, Play Writing, Romance, Mystery, Humor, Historical, Inspirational, Children's Literature, Young Adult, Song Lyrics, Self-Help, Science Fiction, Business and Marketing.
is the founder of our organization called the National Writers Association South Florida Chapter and established the charter in 1990. By January 1998 there were 150 members and a publication called the Crescendo. In 2004 the name was changed to the South Florida Writers Association and the publication renamed The Author's Voice as it is today.

Submit your best haiku, poem, essay, play, memoir, novel, or short story to Ricki Dorn, the new in-house Contest Director. If you win, you will receive a certificate documenting your work as prize-winner, and you may refer to it that way in the future. In addition, SFWA will pay the entrance fee for you to submit it to a larger contest, up to $20.00. I’m sitting here waiting to read and enjoy your submissions. Furthermore, winning a SFWA competition will motivate you to set your sights on your next goal.
Submission fee for one entry is $3 or two for $5 to be paid the day of the meeting. Please email your writing to me, Ricki Dorn, at firstname.lastname@example.org by the day before the next meeting OR hand me a hard copy at the next meeting. Happy writing. Write it right!!

The SFWA will have a booth at the Miami Book Fair International, as usual. Members in good standing may use our booth as their own, to offer their books for sale, interact with readers, sign copies. We will provide some snacks and refreshments. Don Daniels manages the booth for us. You can bring copies of your book directly to him at the booth, or you can meet him. Other details TBA.
